About this experience

Slow stitching consists of making stitches by hand, consciously and slowly.

Step by step and point by point, participants will create a collage of fabric and thread on a textile panel.

The focus is not on the result, but on the creative process and learning to trust your own creative instinct.

No prior knowledge or sewing experience is necessary. At the start of the workshop, Kaat briefly explains what slow stitching involves.

She talks about the material and shows some sewing techniques and stitches. Then the participants work themselves with fabric, ribbons, buttons, needles and thread.

Where possible, the materials used will be made from recycled materials and leftovers. The aim of the workshop is to become familiar with slow stitching, learn some stitches and techniques and experience the slowing down and thought process.

Participants will return home with a panel finished in slow stitching measuring 15X19 cm or 17X17 cm.

You can see some examples in the attachment. After the workshop, participants can continue to work with the knowledge and techniques acquired, for example, to decorate a tote bag, create a larger slow-stitched piece, or repair a garment in a decorative way.
